We are ready to teach you whatever you are interested in, and help you in being an essential part of our team!
Writers are the cornerstone of our magazine production! As a writer, you will be able to write articles for our magazine. You may give ideas at the brainstorm process and write about those if they are selected, OR you may be assigned an article to write by your writing director! Articles should be around 500 - 750 words in length.
Have a good vocabulary knowledge and potentially be taking advanced English classes; have an interest in writing and good research skills, and meet deadlines!
Editors are the reason our articles have quality! As an editor, you are responsible for fact checking the articles, as well as identifying and correcting grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. You will also convert the references/sources into AP format, and make sure that the article is the best it can be, whether it means changing sentences to make more sense or deleting unecessary information!
Have a good understanding of the English language, and potentially be taking advanced English classes; have a keen eye for mistakes, and meet deadlines!
Artists help make our articles have a touch of happiness! Good art can turn the page in the magazine from being just another article, to something that catches the reader’s eye! As an artist, you are responsible for reading the article assigned to you, and creating completely original, creative, and beautiful art for the article from the palette provided!
Have digital art experience; traditional is okay as well, as long as it is able to be digitized (must be clean); must have interest in improving art skills if necessary, and meet deadlines!
Layout designers are what give the magazine the magazine feel! As a layout designer, you are responsible for making creative and original layouts, and following the guidelines provided to you!
Preferred Requistes: Have previous design experience, and experience with Canva; must be willing to improve skills on their own time and have creativity, and meet deadlines!
Graphic designers help us gain exposure on social media outlets! As a graphic designer, you are responsible for making your assigned Instagram post, and follow guidelines and basic design principles. You must be able to balance creativity and aesthetics with readabillity and function, and be able to make designs that will leave people wanting to swipe right!
Preferred Requistes: Have previous design experience, and experience with Canva; must be willing to improve skills on their own time and have creativity, and meet strict deadlines!
Podcast members help us create ‘audiobook’ type articles! As a podcast member, you will be responsible for helping out with our podcast team! Our team includes three types of members: the hosts, who will read our written articles; the editors, who will edit the episodes to include music and make the experience smoother; and the artists, who will design podcast covers! As a podcast member, you must either be a host or an editor, and additionally, may help with making the covers. Don’t worry about a stutter or lisp, all voices are welcome here!
Preferred Requistes: Have previous podcast experience, or be willing to learn how to edit episodes or use Canva for the covers!
Bloggers help us improve our visibility! As a blogger, you will be responsible for converting our articles into Issuu stories and also updating this website with them! Be able to follow the directions properly (the blogging guide), and convert the articles on time!
Preferred Requistes: Canva experience to create header graphics!
Web developers help us maintain and update this website! As a developer, you will be responsible for updating our website as well as building new pages and features as needed.
Preferred Requistes: Git, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript experience (other languages dont hurt)
Finances and marketing members help us gain sponsorships, as well as more exposure! As a marketer, you will be responsible for gathering company emails, drafting emails, and sending them! You will also help the team come up with more ideas to gain exposure, and help our magazine be accessible to as many people as possible!
Preferred Requisites: Good communication skills!
